How to get to Pickering

How to get to Pickering? Pickering is located in the North of England and close to both roads, train, and bus networks.

The nearest  Airports are located at Leeds Bradford and Newcastle a drive of around one and a half to two hours. The Ferry is often overlooked and is also only around one-and-a-half hours away. The Ferry is a bolt onto any holiday as it is a fantastic experience in itself and also super convenient if you are traveling from overseas (and with a young family).

Each travel method to North Yorkshire has its own merits if you haven’t discovered the area before. The train traveling from York takes you through some really scenic countryside. It travels close to the river in sections and takes you past English Heritage Kirkham Priory, which is always nice to see.

The Ferry is a holiday in itself between Rotterdam (Europoort) and Hull. The one-and-a-half-hour trip through the Yorkshire Wolds is very pleasant and as the majority (once out of Hull) is Country, the traffic is minimal, making for a relaxing journey across.

With Jet2 Plane and/or Hire Car – you’ll have the opportunity to drive through some really lovely countryside regardless of whether you travel from York direction or Newcastle (do you need Airport Parking?) You could travel via Thirsk and Helmsley and Sutton Bank (only in the summer months recommended as the bank can be shut with snow and ice when conditions are bad), which will give you another perspective on the Countryside.
